One more page to go and we’re finally at the end of the prologue!

Everyone agreed to a DTIYS for the contest. I will be posting the last page and the illustration for the contest this Sunday, March 28th. I’ll explain all the rules and time frame then as well. I’m planning on letting it last a month so people have time to enter.

The third row of panels are inspired by my original attempt of this comic 5 years ago. You can see that here. I’m sincrely glad I stopped the comic back then. I was completely burnt out after college then and felt I was rushing into the story without having a proper timeline/script figured out. It’s good to wait sometimes and figure out what story you’re trying to tell. Since then, I’ve learned a lot about making comics and how to use certain tools to help speed up the process, especially if you’re doing it all on your own, it can be a lot to handle.

A portrait of Kyan I did this week. The last one is my attempt at painting him 5 years ago. I wanted to see how far I’d come with his design and wanted a matching set with the Nalea painting I did before.

Lastly, I highly recommend this comic by Hummingfluff on instagram or Minna Sundberg. I loved the dystopian idea along with the adorable bunnies! It’s free to read and I think many of you would enjoy it:

My birthday is coming up along with the year anniversary of the comic starting, March 28th! I can’t believe it’s been a year already. Thank you all for the support so far, it’s been a joy sharing this story with you all.

I was thinking of hosting a Draw This In Your Style event in celebration. Prizes would be: 1st place a fully colored, rendered portrait and 2nd place would be a black and white inked portrait. I was thinking of second place being a raffle winner, so everyone can get a chance, since I know not all readers are artists. Let me know what you guys think, I’m open to other ideas as well that aren’t a DTIYS event. I plan to announce it on March 28th, so we have time to game plan.

Good news as well! I don’t know why, but the plugin for the webcomic is working again, so I’ll be able to add another tab for the Theora comic. I’m planning on doing a mini site update once the prologue ends and get everything all nice and set up!

I’ll render this out and make it all pretty tomorrow. My husband changed out my old hard drive this weekend for some fancy new ones to help my computer run better. It took awhile to get everything set up right, so that put me a bit behind, but now my computer is super fast and has a ton of room. Hooray for tech savvy husbands!

What would you choose? The mist and the boat, or the mist in the water? Personally, the ocean terrifies me, so I’d take my chances on the boat, or what’s left of it.

Yay, another update!

I didn’t want to waste a page explaining this, but Torian (Tamiko’s uncle) does have a small crew with him. So if we see more people, that’s why. He’s sailed many times before as we know, so I figured it’d be a given he has a reliable crew of people. I tried to make Tamiko holding the necklace more gently as well, so she’s not stabbing herself with it lol. This is what I love about having readers, it makes you think of things you might not of before.

Now, this is where people may cry. I barely show Theo here compared to the previous page because I thought it’d be interesting to think of how Tamiko might not be able to fully remember his face. I don’t know how long it takes for people to start distorting and forgetting how someone looked, but without photos or technology, I’d like to assume it’s quicker than we may think.

To make up for this sad information, I drew all the siblings happy together:

I’ve missed drawing Taegyn and the three of them haven’t been together in the comic, which should be a crime honestly.

I finally got an update just in time for Christmas. Thanks for being patient with me through this crazy move, our WiFi service sucks right now and we’ve been so go, go, go I can’t catch my breath. I’ll render the background of this later along with the previous page. I care more about the update at the point.

We move into our house tomorrow, I’m super excited! We live literally a 10/15 minute walk from a beautiful cathedral. I’ll try and post photos of it on here in the future. The only downside so far is when won’t have internet until February 9th… that’s the earliest they can come and install it apparently. I will have hotspot from our phone service, which is pretty good, so I’m hoping to be able to upload through that. I will also have my computer and full set up again which I’m super excited about.

England has been a wild ride so far. I’m starting to enjoy British humor, it throws you off at first, but most people are super friendly and pretty laid back here. I find the English are extremely helpful once they realize you’re American. I feel a bit spoiled at times with how helpful they are lol. The most difficult adjustment is finding where to buy certain things. Today my husband and I ran to 4 different stores just to find a coffee maker, but we finally found one thankfully.

This page has the in between moments of what happened on 0x22. It’s extremely rare for Theo to smile, I thought this was the first one but forgot he smiled back on 0x16. I plan on doing a Mando drawing of him at some point, I love the comparison people have made between the two of them.

I have some exciting side projects planned once we settle here in England that I’ll be announcing in a month or so. I also don’t think I posted about this drawing before on here, so here you go! I had to crop it for spoiler-y reasons. Both are future characters in the comic.

It’s really late in England right now, so I’ll write more later. I ended up getting sick this weekend that put me behind a bit, don’t worry, it’s not Covid!

I plan on uploading the next few pages like this until I get my computer back. My iPad is really good, but I don’t know if it can handle the full rendering with how big the file is. I also don’t have all the fonts I use on comic, so ignore the font change for now lol.
