I will render this tomorrow. Thanks for always being patient with me everyone, while we go through this crazy move! I’ll respond to comments later tomorrow as well as update more on the time line of how everything is going.

Fun Fact: Panel 5 I drew as a reference to the original comic I tried to start 5 years ago. Before, it was her Dad, Titus, but I switched it with Theo.

Update:

Our move is being a bit chaotic but not too bad. The biggest worry we have right now are: getting our dogs over to England and England not closing down before we arrive lol. Wales closed down today so we’re really worried England might follow suit. We’re suppose to leave in the middle of November, so we’ll see.

I’m going to try and finish this chapter by October 28th (easier said than done lol). Because I will only have my iPad afterwards. They’re coming to pick up all our stuff then and we found out we won’t get it in England till January 4th ;o; I’m looking to download Clip Studio on my iPad to at least finish this chapter. I will probably wait for my actual computer and cintiq for chapter one. I’m not a fan of how Clip feels on the iPad tbh and Procreate doesn’t have the nice comic features Clip does, so I’ll have to figure out what to do. I promise to keep you guys updated!

I’ll render this tomorrow night, I could finish it tonight, but I have waaay too much to do early in the morning, so I’m choosing to be responsible lol.

I will be hopefully leaving Wednesday afternoon to go see family with my husband. He was suppose to get his leave approved last week, but hurricane Sally decided to make a quick turn into us, so the whole base got shut down lol. I’m sure his leave will be approved, it’s just stressful for him.

I’ve already sketched the next page and hopefully will get the base colors done at least to post early. I don’t want to leave you guys hanging for another whole two weeks. Both my husband and I didn’t realize we were suppose to be leaving this next week until Friday. Time has flown by. We will be fully back October 7th and I plan to update that weekend. I’ll have my iPad to work on some other fun things while I’m gone though!

This week I participated in the #OneWeekPortrait class on Instagram, it was a lot of fun. I learned so much from it. Like I said, I want to build a portrait portfolio for commission examples and it helps me learn how to render things properly as well. Below is the portrait I made of Rasha, who will be in the comic later on.

I’ll render this tomorrow and finish it up. I didn’t want to make anyone wait any longer. I’m excited for the few next pages. They’re gonna be a lot of fun to work on and we’ll come to the end of the prologue and get to start the main story line. I’m on schedule to finish it before our big move. I’d like to have at least the prologue and the cover art for chapter one done before we head to England.

Speaking of future characters, I did a portrait of a future character this week, Emaré’s mother Aoi Rossi. She’s more of a side character, but I wanted to practice getting her look down. I also posted on my instagram a drawing I did a year ago as a comparison for improvement. I plan on doing more portraits the next few weeks. I want to practice painting and getting a portrait style I like that I could use for my portfolio as well as examples for commissions.

Lastly, on Friday my parent’s truck got broken into right in front of their house on the drive way. They have it all on a security camera and it’s wild to watch how casual the guy was about it. Thankfully, nothing was stolen. My parents live in a decent area, but crime has gone up drastically lately so, it’s common knowledge now to not leave anything in your cars. This is the second time this has happened to them in a year. Last time it caused a big shoot out with their neighbor who went to defend it from the thief (no one was hurt), so I’m super thankful it wasn’t that extreme this time. They’re reporting it to the police but the police have been overwhelmed where my parents live outside Denver, they don’t know if they can really help with finding the guy. I’m mostly worried for my mom because she works at home alone and she doesn’t handle this stuff well, understandably so. They just got a great dane puppy mix, so hopefully a bigger dog (they have a corgi currently) will help my mom feel a bit more safe.

EDIT: Hey everyone! I’m back from vacation. This last week was extremely hectic getting back into the swing of things on top of prepping for our move in November. Today is the first day I’ve been able to work on a page, so I won’t have one up this week. We will be back to normal posting this Sunday! Hope you all have been well!

Hey everyone!

I had a pretty crazy week, so thanks for being patient with the update! I also ended up testing more lighting techniques on this page. I feel like I’m always testing what I like and don’t like. I’m hoping to be more decisive by chapter one lol. (Please forgive the ever changing bricks in the background too, it’s part of the experimenting).

I had a lot of appointments this week for our move to England. The military has a bunch of junk you have to go through and it’s time consuming. The next two weeks, I won’t be updating the comic. I’m flying home to Denver to visit my family and then we’re all flying back here for a week. I plan on sketching out the pages on my iPad, but I don’t have Clip on my iPad, just Procreate. So, I won’t have time to fully color and make a page, plus I want to hang out with my family and focus more on sketches and studies.  The next update will be around Sept. 1st! The next few pages are going to be really good as we’re concluding the prologue here soon! I’m super stoked.

Disqus was being extremely weird with my e-mail and I finally got it fixed. Idk what was going on, but I actually get comments to my e-mail correctly now.

Last Saturday was also our 6th year wedding anniversary! I drew us as our favorite benders from Avatar in celebration for it, Jared loved it:

Sorry I didn’t update last week! My sister-in-law was in town and I honestly didn’t have much time at all to access my main computer to update anything. Thanks for understanding!

I really love Theo in panel 2. Theo is the type to not really show his emotions, he’s not very comfortable doing so and shrugs them off honestly, even in times he should probably address how he’s feeling. Personally, I feel like everyone has a person or a couple of people who can bring out those emotions more so, (I know I do! lol) for Theo I think it would be his father and Aurora.

Hope you guys are doing well! I cannot believe it’s August. XoX What is 2020 anymore? lol

Thanks to everyone for being patient this last week. A lot of crazy family stuff happened on my Dad’s side of the family, on top of other normal, life things.

My Dad’s uncle suddenly died, long story short, no one has really known where he’s been for years. So it’s really shocking to a lot of people in my family. He’s also younger than my Dad, so it’s just really sad. Then my Dad’s aunt (sister to the uncle who passed) her son had a sudden seizure out of nowhere and hit his head hard on the concrete. He had to be air lifted to Denver from a small town in Northern Colorado. He’s perfectly fine and will be okay, the doctors have no idea what caused the seizure and said he’ll probably never have one again. He’s only 30 too and has never had problems like this before.

Lastly, my aunt (Dad’s sister), fell and broke her hip last week. She had to get her entire hip replaced, but thankfully she’s going to be okay. She’s a fighter too. It’s just been crazy, because they say stuff hit you in waves, but geez.

I only finished up this page this week. I didn’t want to rush a page and after everything I just wanted to doodle and practice some things and not draw a page this week tbh. So I hope you guys understand.

 

I’ll try and answer messages/comments this week, but my sister-in-law is coming into town, so I’ll be pretty mia this week.

Here’s the finished painting I did for Clip Studio’s contest! There’s a lot of incredible entries that I’ve seen so far. I had a lot of fun with the concept and have always loved the idea of mermaids in space.

Edit 2: I’ll be posting two pages next week. We had a ton of family stuff come up that was super stressful. Everyone is okay! I’ll explain more this next week, but I’m going to just finish this week’s page with the next week’s and post two next weekend. Thanks everyone!

Finally got the rendering up! I ended up changing the whispering to faded text on this page and the page before (I’ve updated it). I didn’t like the dotted lines at all. Thanks to, Lover of Dogs, for the great input! I always appreciate suggestions and feedback of what might look better.

I’ll render this more tomorrow. I’m much too tired and don’t want to rush it. The colors and rendering will be much brighter and nicer tomorrow.

Happy Independence Day to my fellow Americans! I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th, even with the chaos of 2020.

I’m aiming for 20 pages for the prologue, I may have to do one or two more, but I don’t want it over 25 personally. Hopefully that gives you all a gauge for where we are at currently. In chapter one we’ll finally get more characters introduced like these two: Adrien and Emaré. I love the watercolor brushes I have in Procreate. They’re a dreaaam.
