I’ll be taking 2 weeks off from the comic to work on a cover page for chapter 2 and I want some time to try and finish all the pages I left as sketches.

Laura, I, and other mods noticed the likes being fishy recently, so I’ve copied this from her as a warning to everyone:

Notice: Disqus usually has good tools to keep comments appropriate, however recently it’s faced a flood of lewd profiles voting on comments and there’s no apparent way to remove those votes. Myself and the other mods are trying to find a solution to this. Meanwhile people can:

A) Ignore the ‘like’ lists completely. Just don’t look at them at all. This is what I would recommend.
B) You can block the profile and/or report it to Disqus, which I don’t like because it requires seeing the profile, however it is an option, especially if one of those follows yours.

This page is about 80% done, still some small things I want to fully flesh out, but it’ll do for now.

I’m only able to get the sketch up for now. I’ve been really sick this week. I think it’s just the flu, but I do have a cough so I sent in a Covid test (England doesn’t have the fancy ones you can do at home sadly). I’m starting to feel a bit better today, I got my fever to finally break.

I also realized while doing this page, I’m going to go back to the other pages and change the “mumbles” to a mumble font, so it makes more sense. I have no idea why I didn’t think of that before, ha.

Anxiety is rising.

Sorry for the late update, I ended up getting a flood of commission work at the beginning of the week that had to take precedence. We’re getting closer to the end of this chapter!

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season! Welcome to the first page of the New Year! I promise it will have color soon.

I thought I’d wait till we get to the end of the chapter, as we are very close, however I think it’s better to announce it since it’s the New Year!

Updates for TLOR will now be every Wednesday instead of Sunday! This will help me free up my weekends more and focus on more comic work during the week. I had a lot of commission work after Halloween through the holiday season and it made me realize how important having the weekend completely open to do whatever I want or need to do was to me. Thanks for also understanding while that time was crazy, I know my updates became sporadic, but they will be more consistent now that everything has slowed down. So, starting next week, the comic will be updated on Wednesdays now!

Now for the contest! I’ve discussed with readers on the Discord on what we should do for the contest, and we’re going to do a fan art, fanfiction, and meme contest!

Rules:

Entries must be submitted by January 29th. I want to give everyone enough time, especially with the new year, some people will be starting school up again, and just recovering from the holiday season.

Your entry can be any of the following: fanart, fanficiton, or a meme! I want everyone to feel like they can enter without worrying about their art level. I will be judging on the creativity of your entry, not necessarily is it’s the best art piece, writing, or even meme. So be as creative as possible with your concepts! I feel this will be the best way to judge from these three formats.

The prize:

A free year subscription to 21draw where they have tutorials for beginner and intermediate artists. I know quite a few readers want to learn to draw or have difficulty with where to start or what to work on, I feel these courses will help you from experienced artists in the field. They have multiple subjects to choose from for you as well.

You can submit your entries either on here, instagram, or email me at thelegendofruach@gmail.com Whichever is easiest for you all! I know you guys like to share your work from previous contests, so don’t feel like you can’t post them in the comments!

Edit 12/27: Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! I am currently working on the page as I write this, so it should be up by tomorrow or Wednesday at the latest. Thank you for being patient with me for the holiday season. I had a lot of commission work, on top of traveling, and just enjoying Christmas as well.

I’ll be posting more about this with the page, but I know a lot of readers are young artists trying to learn. I happened to get a free year membership to a site that has drawing tutorials called 21draw. They have a copious amount of tutorials for beginner to intermediate artists. I want to give this away to one of you and I asked in the Discord if I should hold a raffle or fan art contest for it and it’s looking like it will be a fan art contest. More info to come with the next page!

I feel much better this week, I caught a small bug, nothing serious. We had to change or sleep schedules a ton for Jared’s work and some events the week before and I think it got to me, ha.

Next week my husband and I are going to Edinburgh! I’m super excited. It’s one of the main cities I’ve wanted to visit when we found out we were coming to the UK. I can’t wait to see some of Scotland too while we’re there. I will keep you all updated if it affects the comic being updated or not.

Edit 11/30: Hey everyone, I’m taking a break from the comic this week. I woke up sick today, so I’m taking it easy for now. The comic will resume Sunday along with this page being colored!

Things are escalating. We get to see some Theo as well after so long. :’)

Edit: Here is the colored page, it’s about 90% done I’d say. I’ll have to go back and render some of the pages from this chapter that I plan to fully do once the chapter is complete. The sketch will be out later tonight UK time! 🙂

Here is the sketch! This page was a lot for me to figure out, but I had a lot of fun mapping it out more. It took more time in the sketch phase, but I think it was good it happened that way.

Yes, Tamiko’s dialogue is blue. I wanted to show she’s speaking her language here but that the reader will understand her, not the people around her. Hopefully it reads that way!
